Of all the problems a relationship can have it is those of a sexual nature that frequently affect couple the most and especially, male impotence. Sometimes this will go for many months or maybe years but eventually, no matter how robust the relationship is, if the issue is not dealt with it might destroy the relationship. Although there could be many underlying reasons for the male impotence, the majority of the time something can be done to correct the situation.
Male impotence, or erectile dysfunction, is the inability to maintain an erection for a long enough time to have sex. A number of erectile dysfunction situations essentially exist ; where the man can get an erection occasionally, where it only lasts for short periods or where it is not feasible to obtain an erection at all. Approximately 10 to 15 million American men suffer from some type of impotence but the good news is that it is easy to understand and can be treated in all age groups.
An erection is likely because the penis is made up of many thousands of blood vessels that enter a mass of absorbent tissue with a quantity of muscle attached. When a person is sexually excited through touch or mentally, nerve signals trigger a flow of blood from arteries into the squashy tissue in the penis. The result of this flow of blood into the absorbent tissue of the penis is an erection which when finished will become flaccid again as the muscles in the penis contract making the blood leave.
Often, if the signals to the nerves are blocked then blood won’t flow into the penis thus making impotence. In most male impotence situations the underlying reason for the difficulty is due to a situation like being an alcoholic or a condition like diabetes for example.
Surgery or wounds to the bladder, prostate or male urethra may result in nerve damage and cardiovascular disease or other illnesses of the blood vessels may interfere with blood flow. The nerves can also reply negatively to conditions that can create serious stress or psychological conditions that will cause erectile dysfunctionIf man is under great amounts of stress, this too can affect his capability to get an erection.
In most instances a doctor can consider the situation and will know what has led to the condition and provide a treatment regime to cure the impotence. Regularly male impotence is affecting men as they grow older, so they need to stay focused on regular regular exercise, stop smoking, shedding weight and changing to a healthy lifestyle.
